Work will soon begin on the reconstruction and extension of east Fifth Street. At a recent council meeting, the village council awarded the bid for the East Fifth Street Construction Project to Beaverdam Contracting of Bluffton Ohio. Beaverdam Contracting’s bid to complete the project was $1,197,076.25. This is approximately $250,000.00 lower than what was estimated.
The Fifth Street Construction Project consist of the reconstruction and extension of east Fifth Street from Garfield Street to Paris Street, plus the extension of utilities north along Hamilton Street and Paris Street and the construction of a small section of Pleasant Drive. Work will consist of the installation of new underground utilities, new curb and gutter, sidewalks, drive approaches and asphalt.
Beaverdam Contracting is expected to start work on the project within the next couple of weeks.
